An athlete who earned a varsity letter for outstanding performance on her high school basketball team, Deja was already comfortable working with a coach on the court when she signed up for College Possible. When she wasn’t practicing her free throws, it seemed natural for Deja to work with her College Possible coach to navigate the college admission process.

With a little practice, Deja quickly became a leader in her College Possible cohort. She encouraged classmates to attend campus visits and afternoon study sessions. By senior year of high school, Deja could envision herself as a college student. She started researching majors, housing options and campus activities.

Deja will be the first person in her family to earn a college degree. “If I wasn’t in [College Possible], I wouldn’t have applied to so many schools. I wouldn’t have gotten so many scholarships,” Deja said. “[College Possible] kept me motivated.”
