FAFSA Renewal

As a college student, you need to resubmit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to receive grants and loans for your next academic year at college. Beginning in 2016 and every year after, students may submit the FAFSA beginning October 1 for the 2017-2018 school year.

Visit a College Possible office to work on scholarships and FAFSA paperwork with your college coach! There are computers and printers available, so please use us as a resource. Call ahead of time to let us know you’re coming!

Choose an office for contact information and directions: Minnesota, Milwaukee, Omaha, Portland, Philadelphia and Chicago.

To make sure you have financial aid for the upcoming school year follow the following timeline and stay on track!

As soon as possible after October 1st:
Fill out and submit the FAFSA online. This website also has complete instructions on what you will need to fill our your FAFSA. If you need help figuring out the financial aid terms, visit this online Glossary of Financial Aid Terms.

*Note that your school may have its own deadline for financial aid.

Within a couple of weeks of submitting your FAFSA:
You should receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) via email if you included an email address on your FAFSA. Your SAR is also automatically sent to the school(s) whose school code you entered on your FAFSA. After you have your SAR, review it to make sure your information is complete and correct.

Early Spring – Early Summer:
Your school’s financial aid office will send you an award letter with a financial aid package (provided you have submitted your FAFSA).

Accept your package. Check with your financial aid office to determine the deadline and procedures.

Throughout the Year:
Apply for scholarships to finance your education!
