My favorite thing about college: Grinnell is a small school in the middle of Iowa, so it’s very isolated. For me, this made it a very intense experience in every way – the friendships I made were extremely close, I was able to focus in on academics and I got to play varsity soccer. I loved being so invested in the things I was doing, without distractions from the “real world.”
College gave me an environment to pursue the things I loved while, for the most part, escaping outside stresses and responsibilities. I didn’t spend a lot of time worrying about what my life trajectory would be or what profession I should pursue, which actually gave me the opportunity to develop interests and build skills that helped me figure out what exactly I was passionate about.
