My favorite thing about college: The ability to dive fully into a subject while also finding interdisciplinary connections made my college experience. I loved being able to draw from methods classes, geology, philosophy, ecology, history, etc. for independent study projects or class assignments, following my unique passions. These experiences spilled out during late night conversations, shop talk during tech week, across the dining table – through learning what fueled other people, I learned more, both about the topic at hand and myself.
My college community was and is also extremely important to me; no joke, some of the best things I took away from college were the friends I made along the way. Peers, staff members, professors, all these individuals made my time at Carleton important on a human level. I still visit for Wednesday night folksinging.
