Scholarship Dollars Roll in for College Possible Class of 2012

Two college success program’s seniors named Gates Millennium Scholars
St. Paul, Minn. – Sandra Opokua is still in disbelief that she received the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship. The scholarship is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and gives students a full ride to college, even covering the cost of a doctorate degree in some fields of study. Opokua will attend St. Olaf College in the fall. She received intensive ACT preparation, support completing college and financial aid applications, and had the opportunity to attend several campus visits during her two years in the College Possible high school program.

April 14 marks the day of the official ACT exam for juniors across the country
St. Paul, Minn. – For the 785 College Possible Twin Cities juniors who will rise early on Saturday morning with #2 pencils in hand, this ACT was not their first. Rather, after eight months of involvement in College Possible, a national college-access and success program, this official ACT marks their fifth time taking the four-hour exam whose score heavily influences admissions decisions at colleges across the nation.

St. Paul, Minn. – Cambridge, Mass.-based New Profit Inc., a national venture philanthropy fund that provides growth capital investment and strategic support to innovative social entrepreneurial organizations, has chosen College Possible™ to join its select portfolio of nationally scaling nonprofit organizations. College Possible, formerly Admission Possible, will be the first organization founded in Minnesota to join such accomplished nonprofits as Teach for America, KIPP Schools, and Year Up as a New Profit portfolio organization.
