This time of year, we do a lot of asking for things: donations, community support, scholarships, in-kind donations, the list goes on and on. In the midst of all this “asking” we also want to take the time to reflect and thank our amazing corporate partners who help make our work possible. When we think of corporate partners who we love, U.S. Bank rises to the top of our minds! In part because they recently awarded us with a generous grant of $10,000 in support of providing pathways for success to post-secondary education.
“Through the U.S. Bank Foundation Community Possible platform, we invest our time, resources and passion in economic development by supporting efforts to create stable jobs, better homes and vibrant communities. College Possible is an excellent example of an organization that fits into our WORK category of giving, specifically by providing pathways for success to post-secondary education, a critical component for youth to secure competitive jobs in the workplace.” –Stacey Dodson, U.S. Bank Market President
The funding provided by U.S. Bank will support high school students in east Multnomah County and the rural areas across the state, and college students, until they earn a college degree.
College Possible ensures low-income students have access to the resources they deserve on their path to and through college. We are helping students interrupt the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families by empowering them to pursue their dreams of higher education. College Possible and U.S. Bank share the vision of creating opportunities and developing the incoming workforce:
“Our support focuses on organizations and programs like College Possible that help low- and moderate-income and at-risk middle and high school students prepare for post-secondary education at a community college, university, trade or technical school, as well as career readiness; and programs and initiatives at post-secondary institutions that support access to career and educational opportunities for low- and moderate-income and diverse students.”
We’re so grateful to have Stacey Dodson, Market President and Karen Kervin, Vice President, Community Relations Manager, Northwest Region at U.S. Bank as great partners. They’ve taken the time to sit down with us and truly understand the work we’re doing and how U.S. Bank could best support it, both with grant funding and employee engagement.
In 2017, U.S. Bank gave $58.4 million through their Foundation and Corporate Giving combined. Incredible! Thank you U.S. Bank for being a great community partner and for your support of College Possible students.
