College Possible Chicago is thrilled to be the recipient of the Caerus Foundation’s Promise Scholar Program grant. Through this grant, seven College Possible Promise Scholars are provided with scholarships that are critical in closing their financial gaps. Additionally, this grant enables Promise Scholars to attend more selective institutions than originally planned, that provide academic rigor that is better aligned with each student’s potential.
These scholarships are especially critical to our students’ success because, despite having a team of coaches to assist students with securing financial aid and scholarships, College Possible students often find themselves facing daunting tuition gaps. In Illinois, need-based financial aid no longer covers all in-state tuition costs, making it extremely hard to for our students to afford college. Consequently, the undue financial burden placed on students can prevent them from persisting through school. The Caerus Foundation’s Promise Scholar Program helps alleviate this burden and increase the chances for college persistence and ultimately, degree completion among its recipients.
We, and our students, are incredibly grateful to the Caerus Foundation for their continued support.
